The sleeveless blazer. It’s chic, polished, and trendy. But can you really wear it to the office? Maybe in a business casual world, but definitely not in a classic business environment. The sleeveless blazer is one of my absolute favorite current trends but I see it paired with a pair of skinny jeans or shorts. It’s the perfect way to refine your summer look! So this got me thinking- what kind of sleeves can be worn to the office, even in 90 degree weather?

I recently- and am still- sorting through my bins of last year’s summer clothing. It’s quite a project because some of it is new- a few things still have tags!- and some of it is from years past, not just last year. So… voila! I came across this cap-sleeve blazer that I got from Express years ago. Whatever happened to this trend? It’s a perfectly practical piece to wear to the office, so I believe it should really be a staple.

So today, let’s learn about how to style this old trend to make it new, again!

3 Tips You Need To Know About Modernizing An Old Trend

1- Pair It With A New Trend
When bringing back an old trend, make it relevant by surrounding it with new trends. This makes it clear that you’re not just a flashback from the past! For my cap-sleeve blazer look, I paired it with a trendy striped midi skirt.
Trendy: Pair it with a modern trapeze dress or midi skirt
2- Or A Classic Trend
You can never go wrong with classic trends! A classic look is both timeless and chic- and it’s the entire look, not just a piece. By blending your old trend in with classics or staples, it gives off the illusion that it’s also timeless.

Classic: Wear it with a solid oxford top and a pencil skirt

And most importantly…
3- Wear It With Confidence!
I’m a true believer that you can really wear anything if you carry yourself with confidence. Style is individual and it’s not just about the trends! If you like it, own it. Before you know it, people will be asking ‘where’d you get that?’ Someone’s got to start the new trends. Why can’t that be you?

I really agree with all of your tips about rocking an "old" trend. I also agree with you on "why did this go out of style?" about your cap sleeve blazer! I had one that I loved for years and it always came in so handy. I finally got rid of it but you're right – it's so practical it should really be a classic piece!
