It’s certainly not a secret that I love the television show
Pretty Little Liars! It really has all of the elements of the perfect show: romance, friendship, suspense and mystery, juicy storylines, and… of course, amazing fashion! I’m always looking to my favorite characters for style inspiration and the Pretty Little Liars costume designer,
Mandi Line, never disappoints! It’s truly incredible how she stays so true to each character, yet evolves their style as they age. After all, these girls are in high school and my personal style changed quite a bit from my sophomore year to senior year.
So, as we are a few episodes into season 6A and uncovering so many details of this dark, interesting story, I’ve decided to do another character-inspired look!
HOW TO SNAG SPENCER HASTINGS’ STYLE
Troian Bellisario’s character, Spencer Hastings, happens to be my favorite character and also the one I have the most in common with when it comes to my personality and style. Type A, overachiever? Yep, that’s me! Regarding her style, think ‘old money’ and ‘classic prep.’ She wears a lot of collegiate-type color palettes and styles, in addition to amazingly detailed jackets and blazers.
To give you a better idea- if you looked in her closet, the following is probably what you would find:
Brands: Ralph Lauren, Brooks Brothers, J.Crew, Anthropologie, Banana Republic, and Ann Taylor
Colors: Navy blue, rich brown hues, burgundy, and olive
Prints: Plaid and houndstooth – but mostly solids
Staples: Blazers, knee-socks, oxford tops and shoes, capes, trench coats, cardigans, military jackets,
vests, boots, and ties
MY HUNT FOR THE ‘PERFECT’ MILITARY JACKET
A few weeks ago, Ralph Lauren was having a big sale. I had been trying to find ‘the right’ military jacket for a while now. By ‘the right’ one, I mean a jacket that completely embodies the ‘military’ style; a thicker material, lots of intricate detailing, and gorgeous, big buttons. Oh and right, I needed one that met my single twenty-something budget! That last bit made it difficult! It’s not easy to find a great quality product while on a budget, however, it’s possible if you maintain patience and perseverance. I knew that Ralph Lauren would be the place to go so when I received the email about the sale, I jumped on it!
This jacket is the
Ralph Lauren Denim & Supply Formal Naval Blazer and I love it! The quality is amazing and it’s so intricate and detailed. Between the website markdown and the discount they were running that weekend, I probably got this jacket for about $50 versus the original $198 the product was listed for. What a great deal!
MY COMPLETE SPENCER HASTINGS LOOK
To embody the Spencer Hastings character, I styled a very detailed look consisting of classic pieces and neutral colors. I paired the military jacket with my LC Lauren Conrad ivory lace shift dress, tan Kate Spade bow loafer heels, classic envelope clutch by SUSU Handbags, and monogram necklace. I then threw in my favorite pave leopard print ring from Express for some added funk!

YEARNING FOR YOUR OWN MILITARY JACKET?
If you’re on the hunt for your own military jacket, check out Ralph Lauren’s Supply & Denim line! It’s really amazing quality and a few of the amazingly detailed jackets in my Spencer Hastings collage above are also this brand. Below is a collage of some of the unforgettable Supply & Denim military jackets. I’ll link to any that are still available!
