How To Transition From Day Time to Date Night Style
Who out there is a single lady like me? It’s not easy finding time to squeeze in dates when you already have a jam-packed schedule! As a girl-on-the-go, it’s absolutely essential to transition looks from day to night for the sake of time AND budget. Even if you’re not single, everyone needs a date night or girls night out every now and again.
So today, I’m going to show you exactly how to save yourself time and money by maximizing your wardrobe with a transition look. Here’s Day Time to Date Night!
DAY TIME LOOK
This is a very casual day time look for me, but there’s something about it that I really like. I’ve had this Michael Kors Printed Scarf Top for a few years and I absolutely love it because it’s such a statement piece! Its big, flowy silhouette and bold print is eye-catching and fun! Because of its satin material, it’s actually much easier to dress it up so I went super casual with the messy top knot, leggings, and sandals.
If you’re uncomfortable in such a big, kimono style top- you can always tie it down with a vest or jacket! This white Topshop sleeveless blazer is one of my favorite new pieces so I’ve been finding every excuse in the book to wear it! Remember it from my flamingo print post (see previous post: Now Trending: Flamingo Print)? It works really well with this look because it tames that wild blouse!

DATE NIGHT LOOK
Now onto the fun part- date night! The best way to transition a look from day to night is to pick one or a few pieces to keep and then coordinate the same color palette for the pieces you’re going to change out. This makes things easier because then you can stick with some of the same accessories, if you want. In this case for me, the only piece I kept consistent was the blouse but the color palette- black and white with a pop of yellow- remains the same. A classic midi skirt is a sure way to dress up a look, so I played it safe with that and a pair of heels. If you’re working with a top that’s more casual, that’s definitely the way to go! I really like that it creates an accentuated kimono sleeve by tucking the blouse into the midi skirt!
Here’s 3 Must-Know Tips to get it right every time:
1- Maintain a Consistent Color Palette
This part isn’t totally necessary but definitely helps if you want to bring more than one piece into your transitioned look. If you’re going to your date straight from work or if you’re based in a city, a consistent color palette is essential for your convenience!
2- Incorporate Dressy, Feminine Pieces
What better way to transition to a date night than to amp up the femininity! Bring pieces into your look that are without a doubt evening pieces. Classics that you can’t go wrong with are midi skirts, pumps, and a sequin or satin clutch.
3- Change Up The Jewelry
I know it may seem easier to keep the jewelry the same, but I find the accessories speak volumes! Dainty, delicate jewelry is great for the day time look and bold, chunky jewelry transitions it nicely to the date night.
