DIY Minnie Mouse Dog Costume Tutorial
Halloween is right around the corner, but forget what you’re going to be- what’s your dog going to be? I’m sure those of you with kids know what that thought process is like! So last year, I had made up my mind that Paisley was going to be Minnie Mouse. I searched high and wide- and even checked the Disney store!- but was unable to find a complete costume. We found a cute tutu at Petsmart but the ears were a weird cross between a headband and hood, so we made our own!
Some of you may remember this costume from last year, but it has been one of our most popular posts so we decided to re-create it and break it down into a step by step tutorial. Here are some photos of the complete costume and don’t forget to scroll all the way down for the video!
THE LOOK
Petsmart Minnie Mouse Tutu (similar: Minnie Mouse Inspired Dog Tutu, by Kenzie’s Treasures on Etsy) // Michael’s Bow-Tique Curved Alligator Clips // Michael’s Black Felt Square // Michael’s Head To Toe Hair Bow, Celebrate It *two-pack in store
Not into DIY? Here’s an adorable Loofa costume from Petsmart: Top Paw Loofa Rider Costume. I’ve seen this costume for adults the past few years, but I’ve never seen it for a dog!
DIY MINNIE MOUSE EARS TUTORIAL VIDEO
Trust me, these mouse ears are super easy! The prerequisites are: ability to use scissors and hot glue gun.
BEHIND THE SCENES
Paisley could’ve stood to look a little more enthusiastic in this video! She just wasn’t feeling it on this particular day, but she was a good sport.
What’s your dog or pet going to be this Halloween? Tag us on Instagram (@theclosetbychristie) to show us the costume!

Thanks, Diana! We're lucky that our breeder dressed the puppies from the beginning, so Paisley was already used to it. She's also incredibly easy going! She'll let us do anything!

This is just too cute! I don't think our dog would let us dress her up!
Jill
Doused In Pink
Thanks, Jill! You never know! There are certain things that Paisley doesn't like to wear- particularly her ladybug Halloween costume- but she really does love to wear a cozy sweater when it's chilly. I mostly put oversized children's bows in her hair!

This costume is adorable! Coco is a pretty good sport about wearing clothes, but she will not wear hair bows for anything, which is so disappointing! Also that loofah costume you linked to is hysterical!
Kristin
The Blush Blonde
Thanks, Kristin! I'm glad I'm not the only one that dresses my dog! Some people think it's ridiculous, but I think it's just adorable! It's cute when they design clothing that goes along with the current trends- like a chambray dress! Glad you liked the loofah costume as much as I did!

Your dog is so cute to begin with. Even more of a beautiful lady with her Minnie Mousse costume. What a little sweetie!
Oh my heavens! This is the cutest outfit ever. I don't think you can go wrong with Minnie Mouse; she's the best. Now if only I had a dog. :]
