How To Wear A Turtleneck Sweater: The New Classic
A turtleneck sweater can be such a chic and versatile piece for the fall and winter seasons. But remember in the 90’s when your grandmother wore one? We’re definitely not going for that look, so how do we differentiate it? Well, it’s all in the way you style it! This silhouette is definitely moving in as a new classic and whether you’re going to the office or out on the town, the turtleneck sweater is a sure way to look fabulous.
Read on for some tips on how to wear a turtleneck and look city chic every time!
HOW TO WEAR A TURTLENECK SWEATER
There’s a million ways you can wear a turtleneck, but here’s a few tips to look super chic every time!
1- Keep It Simple
A turtleneck is the ultimate layering piece so when you’re choosing yours, make sure it’s a piece that would work as a ‘basic’ in your wardrobe. This makes it a contributing element for your look, not the star!
2- Rock A Fitted Silhouette
Fitted clothing adds a sexy vibe to any look, so this is a must to avoid that grandma style! If you’re curvy, pair a fitted turtleneck with an a-line or midi skirt to add some balance to your look. If you’re slim, wear it with a pair of skinny jeans and a long-line coat. See, fitted can work for everyone!
3- Choose Dark Hues
You know that old wives tale that black is slimming? Well, so are most dark hues! A dark colored turtleneck is ideal for the fall season and it will flatter your figure, especially if you go for this fitted silhouette as Tip #2 suggests. The ideal colors are olive, black, gray, burgundy, berry, eggplant, and chocolate.
EXTRA: A FEW MUSTS!
– A statement necklace
– A ribbed texture
– A fabulous pair of boots

BEHIND THE SCENES
I wore this outfit to dinner when I was visiting my parents and of course, I just had to do a shoot before going out. Here I’m wearing all of my favorites wrapped into one look! These boots and purse have become a serious part of my fall uniform, while this necklace is a random find from Old Navy that I fell in love with years ago because it goes with everything. This skirt, which you’ve all seen before (see previous post: What Is A Blanket Scarf & How To Wear It), and the turtleneck are new faves!

I haven't worn a turtleneck in years and years, but I'm seeing a lot of cute ones on various blogs and in store, so it's probably just a matter of time before I find one that I love too.
That skirt and bag are also really cute! I love the pink accents.
