How To Layer Matching Prints
Have you ever loved a pattern so much that you wanted to wear layers upon layers of it? It’s like when you were a kid and wanted to wear all pink every day- or at least that was my life. Now, that’s a girl that knows what she wants! One of the best things about fall- aside from the beautiful foliage, of course- is the fashion and the classic prints. Plaid, houndstooth, herringbone; they never get old!
So now that I’m older and wiser, I’ve tossed aside the monochrome pink looks and instead doubled the houndstooth. It’s called matching prints! How can this be done? The ‘rules’ are similar to the mixing prints trend that was big a few years ago. Read on to learn all about it!
HOW TO LAYER MATCHING PRINTS
Want to match your favorite prints like I did? Here’s your guide to getting it right every time!
SIZE
Prints come in all sizes. Take this houndstooth for instance! The print on my blouse and poncho is very tiny but you can also find houndstooth in stores appearing larger. A great rule of thumb in matching prints is to use like sizes.
COLOR
The color palette is one of the most important elements when it comes to styling any look, particularly when matching prints. The key is to match prints with like colors. Lucky for me here, classic houndstooth is black and white. My blouse has red accents, so I added a red lip and hat to tie that in.
It seems simple because it is! All it takes are these two tips- size and color- and you’ll be rocking matching prints like a pro.
THE LOOK

I always like you in French caps and you always style wraps and ponchos so well. I love that houndstooth poncho with the splash of red (I just saw a similar one in a another blog). I want a houndstooth one badly. You look Parisian Chic, Modern and Elegant, Christy.
