How To Be A Successful Blogger Series: Meet Monica
Blogging is no easy feat so whether you are dreaming of blogging, a newbie blogger, or a pro blogger, you might still find yourself asking how to be a blogger or more specifically how to be a successful blogger. In the sea of bloggers, how can you achieve success? Trust me, being a blogger and being a successful blogger boss are two completely different things.
Throughout my life, I have always studied successful people to learn about their journey and how they got to where they are today. This new blog series How To Be A Successful Blogger will feature a new blogger each month. No matter the size of the blog or experience of the blogger, there is always something unique to learn from each and every person.
Today, let’s meet Monica!
Meet Monica of Jersey Girl Texan Heart! Monica is a good friend of mine that I met at LuckyFABB in NYC many years ago. As newbie bloggers at the time we stuck together, formed a group of blogger friends, and we have all grown together. We even traveled together with Alexandra of Glory Boon to LuckyFABB West in LA! Monica is the true Jane of All Trades blogger; she’s stylish, great with make-up, artistic, crafty, and so talented. In addition to all of that, she’s super friendly, energetic, and a total sweetheart.
Read on to learn all about Monica and don’t forget to check out her blog, Jersey Girl Texan Heart.
1. Where are you from and how has that affected your style?
I’m from NJ. I feel as though where I live hasn’t affected my style that much just because I’m 100% Polish so I have a little bit of European flair, a little Jersey Attitude (I love a good animal print), but I also love anything country/western due to my short time living in Texas. I feel as though I’m a little bit of everything!
2. Tell me about your blog.
Ok, where to start? I feel as though my blog has a little bit of everything for everyone. Whether you’re into fashion, nail art, makeup, lifestyle, health and fitness, I really have all of that in one place. I have certain days that are designated for certain topics, which you’ll come to find out after following my blog. But here’s a little run down!
Monday: Mani Monday- this consists of nail art ranging anywhere from complex to really simple. This is when I love giving a little bit of inspiration to all of my readers.
Tuesday and Wednesday: OOTD’s along with my Wednesday linkup. This is usually for outfits, however every once in a while I do add lifestyle posts or DIY’s for example how to make coasters from Wine Corks.
Thursday: This is usually my makeup/beauty day that’s almost always equipped with a video from my Vlog/YouTube.
Friday: Free Day! I usually write about anything and everything on this day. Sometimes I use it as a quick catch up session with my readers to let y’all know what’s going on in the world of Monica.
Saturday: Shape Up Saturday which is anything Health and Fitness related. Whether this be workouts, words of motivation, recipes, and other things this is where you’ll also see more about my weight loss journey and my healthy lifestyle which started back in June.
3. What’s the story behind your blog?
I started my blog back in 2010 (you won’t see those posts because they’ve been archived) and then life got in the way after a few months and I had to stop even though I loved it. Then in 2013 my coworker kept sending me blogs to read and once I told her I used to have one she asked me why I stopped blogging. That was the year I decided to start up again because I needed a creative outlet. I work in an office all day so having something fun to work on after a long day is always exhilarating.
4. How did you come up with the name for your blog?
Well, the Jersey Girl is because I’m from NJ and the Texan Heart portion of the name is because a part of me is still in love with Texas. I only lived there for a short period of time but I loved Texas.
5. Blogging is huge right now! What about you and your blog is unique compared to other bloggers?
I feel as though my blog is different because it offers something for everyone. I also feel as though I’m a humble person, and I feel as though people like that. People can relate to that type of a person. I’m authentic and what you see is what you get, and I’m saying that in the nicest way possible haha!
6. Are you working on any exciting projects that we can expect to see up on the blog soon?
I’m almost always working on something new. I’m always trying to find something innovating, but I guess for now it’s just my Holiday series that will be in the month of December. Ever since I haven’t worked in retail (4 years now) I’ve come to actually get into the holiday spirit more. I worked in retail for 10 years so it kind of ruined the holiday cheer for me. Now I love it. I’m actually waiting for Thanksgiving to be over so that I can start all of my holiday things!
7. What Pinterest board do you pin to the most?
Hair. Anything that has to do with hair. Short, long, natural colors, bright colors, hot pink, gray, ombre, balayage, you name it, I’ll pin it!
This or That:
Instagram or Twitter? Instagram- I’m a visual person
Snapchat or Instagram Story? Snapchat- They are the original story sharing platform haha
Chocolate or Vanilla? Hmm, depends on my mood and depends what it is. I’m a chocolate frosty and fries kinda girl (only on cheat day), but vanilla is usually my go to.
Sweet or Salty? Sweet, but I’m liking this new sweet and salty trend going on!
Sun or Snow? SUN, DEFINITELY SUN!
What can we learn from Monica’s story?
- Write about what you love! If you’re passionate about more than one thing, don’t let yourself get stuck in a niche. While a niche might be more successful in business, passion and being authentic rules when it comes to blogging.
- Organization is key. A content schedule is never a bad thing for anybody!
- Always get back on the horse. If you love something, don’t ever quit. And if you need a break, be kind to yourself and enjoy it!
Do you love Monica as much as I do? Show her some social love!

With the kick-off of this brand new series, I have a super special announcement to make. A lot of you already know that I’ve been over here dreaming and scheming! So, here it is… I’m working on a masterclass that’s all about blogging, From Blogger to Boss! Who said your blog didn’t come with a manual? This is it!
Based on so many statistics that I’ve read, content marketing is the new key to being successful in business. Readers, potential customers, and brands all want to see that you truly are an expert at your craft before they decide to hire you. In fact, 47% of buyers viewed 3-5 pieces of content before engaging with a sales rep (source: http://www.hubspot.com/marketing-statistics). But writing is hard. How can you come up with new ideas after years of blogging? How can you balance your blogger perfectionism with your real life? And even worse, what are the must-do’s before hitting that ‘publish’ button?
I’m a writer at heart and after blogging for 4 years & writing over 540 blog posts with original content, I’ve learned so much about the do’s and don’ts of content creation. During this masterclass, I’m going to let you in on all of my secrets. Learn more here: From Blogger to Boss.
This masterclass will start early 2017 but enrollment begins soon and seats are very limited. Be the first to find out updates and enrollment specials by signing up for my special From Blogger to Boss email list. As a thank you for signing up for this list, you’ll receive a FREE Editorial Calendar template and you’ll be the first to know about the official enrollment date to guarantee your spot in my first class.
[Editorial Calendar Template Comes In Keynote Version, Powerpoint Version Coming Soon]

I adore that Jersey Girl with the Texan Heart GRIN sorry I had to. Monica was one of the first few bloggers whose link-up parties I joined on a regular basis, and since then, I’ve been privy to blog design changes, content adjustments, tweaks here and there, all of which have converted m into a loyal reader. Congratulations on starting this new “column”, Christie, and on kickstarting it on such a high note. Congratulations also on this new phase of your blogging career, I’m rather looking forward to seeing/reading what’s next.
On the blog today, five of us women across all ages are showcasing men’s jewellery in our own way, in our own style viewpoints, and I’d love for you to come see, perhaps leave a comment too 🙂 also my weekly Project Sister Act Link-Up is now live, and will be up until midnight Thursday, so please do join in the fun?
