The Fall print that I’m most excited about is… houndstooth! With the current popularity of the classic color combination of black and white, how could you not be head over heels for this print! Houndstooth is defined as a “duotone textile pattern characterized by broken checks or abstract four-pointed shapes” (Wikipedia). It’s primarily designed in black and white but can incorporate other colors, too. You can go for a bold look with a larger scale print or tone it down with a subtle smaller scale print (sometimes referred to as puppytooth), which makes it so versatile to style.

In the above set, I featured a metallic Michael Kors houndstooth dress. I really love this dress because it combines the metallic and houndstooth trends, adding them to a beautifully feminine silhouette. The collar detail shows off the neck and collar-bones without revealing too much, making it a perfect work-wear piece. I paired the dress with a maroon Oasis ponte blazer, which has nice seam detailing and a structured fit. I accessorized with a maroon Michael Kors large tote and black Michael Kors leather pointed-toe boots. I love these boots with this look because the buckle and lace-up detailing adds some edge to it. For jewelry, I chose maroon Brooks Brothers rose stud earrings and a ribbon-tied bangle set.
