Every season, fashion has been getting more and more eye-catching as we throw old “rules” out and bring individualism in. We’ve seen mixed prints, bold color palettes, and now- mixing fabrics. It’s definitely easier to style when the mixed fabrics are on a single piece, however, it can be done on multiple pieces as well. You may ask, well what fabrics can I mix? The answer is- there’s no limits with rule-breaking! The sky is the limit! You may want to go glam by mixing a sequin dress with a leather jacket or stay chic by mixing a lace top with a suede blazer. If it’s your style and you wear it with confidence, you can pull off anything.
In the above set, I chose a Giambattista sleeveless dress. This dress has many aspects that make it fabulous! One, it mixes fabrics on a single piece. The designer used a white floral Broiderie Anglaise top with a tweed skirt. If you’re not familiar with textiles, you may wonder what Broiderie Anglaise is. It’s characterized by white fabric with a pattern of small holes, similar to eyelet. Two, the fabrics are designed on the dress in a colorblock style. This gives the piece a more uniform and commercial look, so it can easily be worn by the everyday woman. And three, the tweed fabric includes a neon yellow. All of these characteristics make this dress fabulous and very trendy.
I paired the dress with a white Chalayan blazer. I absolutely love this blazer because it has a colorblock quality, since the blazer itself is white and the collar is neon yellow. This works well with the dress because it has a white on white look up top and the neon yellow collar matches the neon yellow accents in the tweed fabric. I accessorized with nude Saint Laurent leather platform sandals and a neon yellow Zara clutch. For jewelry, I chose gold Macy’s chain bib necklace, yellow-gold Saks Fifth Avenue drop earrings, and a Charlotte Russe chained pleather cuff
Do you like the mixed fabric trend? How would you style it?
