Mixing Prints: Go For The Bold!
Mixed Print Blouse by theclosetbychristie featuring dkny
Mixed prints is truly the present and future of fashion. This trend came upon us back in 2011 and hasn’t left center stage since! It adds a completely new element to fashion, in that every piece in your closet is now versatile. In the past, a pair of printed pants had a very short list of pieces it could be paired with. We were hesitant to embrace that style because the options were extremely limited to say the least! Now, with mixed prints on the scene, the sky is the limit and the style possibilities are endless.
In the above set, I featured a Mother of Pearl mixed print blouse (net-a-porter.com). This is a really unique blouse because it has an unlikely combination of prints on one top; navy stripes, grey animal print, and coral tassels. That’s the beauty of mixing prints! You can mix and match prints in an unexpected way to create a one-of-a-kind look. The great part about mixed prints on a single piece is that the work is already done for you! All you have to do is accessorize.
I paired the mixed print blouse with a bright pink DKNY blazer and dark grey Malene Birger plaid shorts. These shorts contribute to the uniqueness of this look because the front is a dark grey plaid, while the back is classic black editorial-style shorts. This adds yet another element of fun to this look! I accessorized with bright pink Zara pointed-toe heels and light grey scale-effect leather envelope clutch. For jewelry, I chose navy and gold Ralph Lauren chandelier earrings.
Don’t you just love mixing prints? What’s your favorite combination?
