Trend Watch: Banana Peel Print

Banana Peel Print

Banana Peel Print by theclosetbychristie featuring a cross body

A new trend to watch is the banana peel print! I’ve seen it on almost anything; graphic tees, crop tops, skirts, clutches, and the list goes on. I first saw the print featured in the Tell Me How You Really Peel collection on Polyvore and found it.. intriguing. I’m always open to something different! It’s a little bit of a style challenge, especially as a work-wear piece, but if you mix it with the right things it can be surprisingly chic.
In the above set, I featured a white TOPSHOP banana peel print crop top. I really like this top because it’s unique. The banana illustration has a photorealism aspect to it (see previous post: Fashion Meets Art: Photorealism), which makes it more versatile for styling. I paired the crop top with a yellow ribbed Missoni A-line skirt and a pale yellow Rag & Bone tuxedo blazer. The blazer and A-line style skirt make this outfit the perfect work-wear look. I accessorized with yellow suede L.K. Bennett pointed-toe heels and a dark brown DSW crossbody bag. For jewelry, I chose a bronze BaubleBar beaded bracelet and chocolate White House Black Market beaded chandelier earrings.
Will you embrace the banana peel print trend? How would you style it?
