“What should I wear” is the first thing that comes to mind when I’m preparing to attend a big event! As I’m gearing up for LuckyFABB, the same question is running through my mind. There’s a certain pressure that comes with planning for an event or holiday because it’s not just another day; it only happens once! It can be especially intimidating when you know you’ll be in a room full of fashionistas. You want to look your best! You want to stand out!

Part of my creative process when styling myself for a big event is thinking, thinking, thinking until the light-bulb goes off! I spend some time wondering what I’ll wear and then it just comes to me… like an ah-ha moment. The biggest challenge then is finding what I’ve imagined in the store. 9 times out of 10 I find a variation on what I had imagined, but sometimes the look completely changes when I hit the stores.

The most important things to consider when planning your look is:

1- Be you! You want to choose something that captures the essence of who you are. Everyone has a unique style. It’s easy to get lost in the trends, but try to incorporate pieces of your signature style too. For me, it’s bows, ruffles, and femininity!

2- It has to feel great! You may love how something looks on a hanger but when you put it on, you should feel amazing. You want to look in that mirror and think ‘wow!’ If you know you look good and you feel good, that confidence will radiate and make you look even better. You’ll shine!

3- Comfort is key! I’m not one of those girls that can suffer through the pain. I value comfort! If I’m uncomfortable, it will show all over my face. Although it may be hard to believe, you truly can be comfortable and fashionable. If you’re tugging and re-positioning the whole time, you’ll lose that confidence. And you won’t be able to enjoy the moment to its fullest because you’ll be distracted!
