Blogger Spotlight: Crumbs & Curls Takeover!

Hello Christie’s readers! I’m Kristin & I blog over at Crumbs & Curls.  Today I’m hanging out over here while Christie is taking over my blog.  To start off here is a little Q&A so you can get to know me better:

1. Where are you from and how has that affected your style?

I live in New Jersey about a mile from the ocean in a tiny town, & where I’m from has absolutely shaped my style.  A lot of things where I live are centered around summer & that carries through all year round, my natural makeup & more simple hair styles are definitely influenced by this.  Where I am from is also about an hour from New York City, so there are a lot of elements of New York in the fashion around me, which I have always loved & taken inspiration from.  I attend college in a town outside of Philadelphia, & one of the things I loved about the campus was when I toured was that everyone was so well dressed & I did not see a single person wearing pjs.  Since fashion is so prevalent where I go to school I would say that the fashions here are what influence & guide my style choices now more so then the fashions at home.

2. Tell me about your blog.
I started Crumbs & Curls to talk about beauty, fashion, baking/cooking, & crafting.  However, I have started to talk more about my life & have been really working in a lot of lifestyle posts recently.

3. What’s the story behind your blog? (ie. why did you start it, where did the idea come from, etc)
I started blogging last summer when I was recovering from surgery that left me stuck on the couch for quite some time.  I was bored & there are only so many movies you can watch & only so many things you can cover in glitter, so it randomly occurred to me to start a blog.  I’ve always been really passionate about beauty, & fashion, & have always loved crafting & baking so I thought that it would be great to share my thoughts on these topics.

4. Blogging is huge right now! What about you and your blog is unique compared to other bloggers?
I think that personal perspective, writing style, & story content  is what makes each blogger unique.  No two bloggers are exactly the same & that is what I love about blogging!

5. Are you working on any exciting projects that we can expect to see up on the blog soon?
I am, but I enjoy the element of surprise so I cannot disclose anything ;)!

6. What Pinterest board do you pin to the most?
My ‘Creative‘ board, which has all the fun crafts I want to do!

7. Instagram or Twitter?
Instagram!

8. Chocolate or Vanilla?
I really like both, but which I prefer depends on exact foods.

9. Sweet or Salty?
Sweet, I have a weak spot for desserts.

10. Sun or Snow?
Snow, I love being trapped inside baking, cooking, watching movies, reading, & all the other fun things that you can do on a snow day.

As a fashion lover Coachella & all of the wonderful looks we have seen there have been on my mind lately.  The outfits that celebrities have been sporting have been super hipster chic & serve as great inspiration for summer looks.  While these looks are a little more bohemian then my typical style I am really looking to take some cues from the Coachella fashion & incorporate some new hipster pieces into my wardrobe.  These are my favorite looks from the first weekend at Coachella.

There’s such a unique mix of styles shown here.  While I do love seeing the free spirited looks, I’m sure that you can tell that I prefer the more tame looks that are worn to the festival.  I would have to say that my favorite looks from Coachella are definitely the one where shorts are paired with the booties.  I’ve always loved this style, & am dying to rock it; I really need to just go for it!  In flipping through all of the pictures from the past weekend I’ve picked out some great pieces that can be used to created a Coachella inspired look.

Cutoffs, booties, tank tops, flowy dresses, & sandals are all must haves for the bohemian look we see on the celebrities here.  The best part about the pieces I’ve picked is that they are all under $100 & most are under $50, that way you can get a celeb look without a celeb budget. Any of these pieces can be worked into your wardrobe & will carry you throughout the summer.

This is just a small taste of what I blog about over on Crumbs & Curls.  Thanks so much for reading my post, if you’d like to know more make sure to stop by & visit me, I’d love to have you!

Have a great day!
