Blogger Spotlight: Something About That

For this month’s Blogger Spotlight, I’m featuring Jackie of Something About That! I had the pleasure of connecting with this lovely blogger recently and I’m already hooked on her blog. Her work is thoughtful, packed with tons of fabulous trends, and her style is fresh and unique.
Best of all, her photos are flawless! She has a unique ability to shine through the lens, coming across so happy and free. In her most recent post, she talks about overcoming your own self-doubt and criticism- and I think that’s something so beautiful. Many bloggers have wonderful photos, but these qualities are really hard to portray when modeling! You’ll see what I mean… Meet Jackie!
And don’t forget to show her some love by following Something About That on Bloglovin’.

Christie: Where are you from and how has that affected your style?
Jackie: I’m from a suburb just outside of Toronto, and I’ve never thought about how my location impacts my style. Because I’m from the suburbs, I mainly shop at the mall, rather than at local boutiques, so a lot of my clothes come from stores that most of us have access to. There’s certain brands and stores that tend to be more popular here, but for the most part, I really don’t know if my style is specifically “Toronto-ish” or not…because I don’t know if there is a Toronto style! Is there?
Christie: Tell me about your blog.
Jackie: If I have to categorize my blog, it would fall into the ‘fashion’ category. I tend to post outfits, wish lists, and more recently, product reviews. I try to keep the content more interesting than just talking about the clothes and that’s it, so usually I write whatever’s on my mind that day, and then tie that into the photos. It’s casual – I write the way I talk! My style is casual…but nice casual. I’m the type of person than will always seem more dressed up than other people, even when I’m not actually dressed up. I think it’s because I will never consider an outfit complete until it’s accessorized! These are the sorts of looks I feature on the blog. Everyday chic!
Christie: What’s the story behind your blog?
Jackie: Honestly, the story behind my blog isn’t all that exciting. I’ve been reading blogs (mainly fashion blogs) for quite a few years now and consider myself well-versed in daily fashion. I’m that person who shows up to the office with a seemingly endless closet, and it’s something my colleagues have always noticed about me. Do I have an endless closet? No. Do I wear the same outfit over again? Hmm…not usually. I try to avoid putting the same outfits together more than once, because that’s no fun! I love being creative with what I wear and loved seeing how other bloggers would remix their closets. In one of these sorts of discussions at work, my boss asked me if I have a blog. At that point, I thought to myself, “shouldn’t I have a blog?” It just sort of happened from there!

Christie: Blogging is huge right now! What about you and your blog is unique compared to other bloggers?
Jackie: What I love about blogs is that everyone’s is unique. I think my casual writing style helps set me apart from some of the other bloggers out there who seem very formal in their writing. That’s just not me at all. I’m not one of those girls who looks like an “ideal” model, so I hope that my blog gives off the fact that I’m just a normal person, styling normal clothes! Relatable, right?
Christie: Are you working on any exciting projects that we can expect to see up on the blog soon?
Jackie: It’s only recently that I’ve started working with a few different brands. I most recently posted a review on Adore Me Lingerie and have another one coming up soon with a different company. I always said, if I can get brands to want to work with me on some sort of collaboration, then I’ve really made it as a blogger. I couldn’t be happier and I just love being part of this fun space on the Internet! I’ve been blogging for just over a year now and really look forward to more exciting projects in my future.

Christie: What Pinterest board do you pin to the most?
Jackie: Am I the only one that goes through weird phases with Pinterest? I think right now, since we’re at the beginning of summer weather, my “Warm Weather Fashion” board is getting a lot of love. Sometimes I go on baking crazes, and other times I can’t stop pinning photos of cute puppies. I guess it depends on my mood.
