Tour Through Blogland
My amazing friend Monica, of Jersey Girl, Texan Heart, recently posted a piece called ‘Tour Through Blogland.’ It’s a content idea, being passed from blogger to blogger, that really offers readers a unique view into the deep inner workings of your mind as a blogger and your blog behind-the-scenes. It’s such a cool, unique idea so when Monica asked me to participate, I couldn’t say ‘no!’
What are you working on now?
Right now, I’m working on a few new ventures! First- I just bought a fancy new DSLR camera. I was originally holding off on it, but I got an awesome Black Friday deal on Amazon. I’ve been having fun playing with it and improving (well, learning) my photography skills. Stay tuned for fabulous quality photos on the blog!
Second- I’m working on expanding my blog to YouTube! So exciting! I have been researching, brainstorming, and practicing my movie making skills. When I start something, I always dive in head first and give it my 100% best effort- so I definitely want to work on some of these skills so my channel can be its best! I’m estimating a January 2015 launch!
How does your work differ from others in its genre?
The truth is, no two blogs are the same. Blogs, no matter the topic, are an expression of self and every individual is unique. The Closet by Christie differs from other blogs because it’s a compilation of my experiences with fashion and style- whether it be tricks and tips for styling a certain trend, or sharing my new favorite items. The Closet by Christie is unique because it has a strong focus in office-wear, but what’s really different is our occasional dog fashion posts. I have yet to meet any other dog fashion bloggers- let me know if you know any!
Why do you write/create what you do?
I started blogging because I love fashion and I love to write. These have been two loves of mine for a long time, so I’m surprised I didn’t think to start the blog sooner! I continue with the blog because it serves as my creative outlet and it has taken me on many unexpected adventures! I have gone to exciting events, met fabulous friends, and gained a new kind of confidence and sense of purpose that I didn’t have before. Now it has become a huge part of who I am. It’s a lot of work, but I wouldn’t have it any other way because the reward is just priceless.
How does your writing/creative process work?
When it comes to graphics and the artsy side of blogging, sometimes I have a vision in mind and other times I don’t. I usually just turn off my mind, get in the zone, and create. It all comes together somehow!
For the editorial side, ideas come to me all the time- mostly when I’m not intentionally thinking, if that makes sense. I’ll be going about life, the lightbulb goes off, and I jot it down in my iPhone’s note app. I have a running list and the ideas that continue to excite me are the ones that get published. I write from passion, so if I’m really into something- the words just happen. I also created an editorial calendar to keep me organized and on track!
Don’t forget to check out Monica’s blog, Jersey Girl, Texan Heart!
Next stop on the tour are these two fabulous ladies!
Be sure to check out their Blogland posts next Monday, December 15th!

Yay for getting that new camera!! Honestly, I found the first photo I took with it looked like art, and it's still a skill I'm learning more about every day.
I can't wait to share my post next week 🙂
