How To Wear Statement Accessories
It’s not just about the statement necklace. Other accessories can make a statement, too! I’m such a fan of statement pieces. For me, bigger is almost always better! However, there definitely needs to be a balance when making a statement. For me, wearing a statement piece is like saying ‘hey, I’m here and I’m fabulous. Take notice!’ That’s a fun way of embracing fashion but there’s a fine line between fun and obnoxious. So, how exactly do we find this balance? Let’s learn together!
Here’s How To Wear Statement Accessories!
Now, I always say I don’t believe in fashion rules. Style shouldn’t be constrained or judged! It’s a reflection of self, so anything you choose is right for you. But sometimes it’s nice to follow a formula so you can put your best foot forward. Here’s a few tips to get it right every time!
1- Less Is More
Choose just one statement piece- or two if you’re feeling bold! For me, I chose this fabulous leather cream bow belt add-on. It’s a pretty cool piece because it’s hand-made (from Etsy) and it has a loop so you can slide it onto any belt. It was inspired by a Zara belt that Spencer Hastings wore on Pretty Little Liars during season 3 (see previous post: Unique Statement Pieces: Steal The Show With A Bow).
2- Color Palette
Maintain a consistent and simple color palette. Stick to just two or three colors! A great way to blend a statement piece, if you’re a little unsure, is to include it in your palette. For my look, I chose powder blue, brown, and cream. The big bow is cream and matches the stripes and detailing of my top, so it really looks like it goes together.
3- Simplicity Is Key
Try to keep your other accessories simple and minimalistic. My current favorite go-to is the delicate, layered necklace trend!

That bow is such a fun and unexpected accessory!
As a petite person, my idea of a statement piece is still usually small, to fit my proportions. I love wearing hats, scarves, and broaches–sometimes even together! My favorite way to wear a statement piece is to wear a very bright accessory, like a yellow cuff or a pink necklace, with an otherwise neutral ensemble. The neutral background allows the bright accessory to really pop.

That's so true, sometimes I'll read a fashion book with a bunch of rules that don't really apply anymore, so there's really no point! Love how you added structure with that belt.
