We talk about it all the time here; transitional looks. But when I say we talk about it all the time, there’s a reason for that! Transitioning your clothing, whether it’s day to night or weekend to office, can save you big bucks and time on laundry. And who doesn’t need to save these days? Maybe it will help you afford that extra latte you wanted or allow you to take that trip you’ve been dreaming of! Win win, right?
So let’s get on with it- today we’re discussing how to transition from summer day to office!

SUMMER DAY LOOK
This is one of my absolute favorite dresses! I got it from
Express years ago and it’s really held up well. It’s been with me through thick and thin; through internships, long summer days, parties,
and the office. What’s so great about it? Well, it’s super comfortable and the dark floral pattern makes it an easy transition from day to night and summer to winter.
Given how versatile this dress is, there’s about a million different ways you can style it. For this particular summer day, I kept things simple. I wore slip ons, dainty jewelry, and a neutral tassel backpack.
By keeping things simple, it makes it that much easier to transition!
THE DAY LOOK
For the day look transitional pieces, I chose these metallic slide-on sandals and neutral-colored tassel bucket backpack. Both of these pieces are very casual, so they really make for great ‘day-time’ accents!

SUMMER OFFICE LOOK
Here’s our office look! Notice anything different? There’s a ton of ways to transition a summer look from day to office. Follow these 3 steps to get it right every time!
Step 1- Add a blazer
This is the most classic office piece! By adding a blazer to a look, it instantly creates a more chic and sophisticated vibe. It’s a great way to pull a casual outfit together, but it’s a flawless way to make a casual piece more office-appropriate.
Step 2- Trade out your sandals for flats or heels
Sandals are a fabulous way to make an outfit work for a summer day. To bring the same look to the office, simply trade out your sandals for a pair of basic flats or heels. Here I’m wearing my favorite
WHBM suede pointed-toe flats. I love these for the office because the suede material and large criss-cross detailing on the toe gives it such a luxe style!
Step 3- Downsize your handbag
A large oversized tote or backpack are ideal summer bags. You wouldn’t want to have to leave anything at home when you jump from activity to activity! To make your handbag a little more office-like, simply choose a smaller bag with a classic silhouette. For my day look, I went super trendy with a tassel bucket backpack. To transition for the office, I traded that backpack out for my simple black envelope clutch.
