How To Wear Primary Colors During The Summer
Color plays such a huge role in fashion and even personal style! The colors you choose to wear can even speak volumes about your personality and mood. If you attend a cocktail party and choose to wear a basic little black dress, the other guests may view you as chic and elegant. If you choose to wear a loud, abstract print dress to the same party, you may be viewed as bold and attention-seeking. While both might be positive views, it just depends on who you are and what you want to communicate about yourself to the world. Your personal style is a nonverbal form of communication!
I love wearing bright colors during the spring and summer! Flowers are blooming bright, lovely colors and nature is really coming to life. It only makes sense that our fashion would follow suit! Wearing brights can show off a really fun side of your personality. And pairing brights with other brights can depict you as adventurous, brave, and even artistic! How can we get started? Primary colors are a great place to start, as they’re both bright and classic.
Here’s How To Wear Primary Colors During The Summer!
WHAT ARE PRIMARY COLORS
Let’s first start out with what primary colors are. You might remember them from your very first art class! Primary colors are the root of every hue. This is where color starts! Purple, for instance, cannot be obtained on its own. It’s a product of mixing both red and blue; therefore, it’s a secondary color.
So, what are the primary colors? Yellow, red, and blue. The most important thing to note is that they are not shades of these colors. Primary colors are the classic shade of each of these colors. Different shades like burgundy, turquoise, and mustard are all considered tertiary colors.
HOW TO WEAR PRIMARY COLORS
Now that we know what primary colors are, let’s discuss our style tips on how to wear them flawlessly every time in just two simple steps!
1- Choose Mostly Neutrals
The majority of my look here is black and nude. I’m wearing a black top and hat with my favorite nude jeweled sandals. These neutrals will anchor your look and keep it from getting too bold!
2- Add Two Primary Colors As Accents
Out of the 3 primary colors, choose 2 of them to add to your look as accents. For my look, I chose blue for my skirt and yellow for my bag. It’s up to you just how bold you want to be! I think yellow and blue look really great together, so I was brave enough to wear blue on a main piece.
If you’re unsure or want a more subtle look, try choosing two accessories- like a yellow statement necklace with a blue handbag. It’s easier to incorporate bold colors when they don’t overlap.

I love mixing in some bold colors with black. I always tend to go for red or blue. I should explore some more yellows too.
